The Miz & John Morrison def. Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, and The Revival (Fatal 4-Way Smackdown Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match)

Results: With a championship match against The New Day at Super Showdown on the line, the blue brand’s tag team division competed in a Fatal 4-Way match to determine who would earn the opportunity. Miz & Morrison, Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, and The Revival all traded momentum throughout the match, but it was the King of Parkour who took advantage for his team, delivering Starship Pain to Scott Dawson to secure the championship match.

Analysis: The New Day vs. Miz & Morrison is the epitome of new school vs. old school. I can’t wait to see the buildup for this match.

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross def. Fire & Desire

Results: After their matchup was interrupted by a brawl between Bayley and Lacey Evans last week, Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross once again took on Fire & Desire with positioning in the race to the Women’s Tag Team Championships on the line. Perhaps inspired by accepting a date with Otis for Valentine’s Day, Mandy Rose helped her team to a hot start with Sonya Deville following up. However, Nikki Cross came through in the clutch, dropping Rose with The Purge, allowing The Goddess to finish with Twisted Bliss.

Analysis: Bliss & Cross are too hot with the WWE Universe right now to deny them a tag title opportunity. Meanwhile, Fire and Desire just never got their feet underneath them after Paige’s untimely retirement.

Braun Strowman def. Shinsuke Nakamura (c) w/Sami Zayn and Cesaro (Intercontinental Championship)

Results: Ever since the turn of the new year, Braun Strowman has been trying to get at Shinsuke Nakamura’s Intercontinental Championship, but at every turn, he’s had to deal with Sami Zayn and Cesaro’s machinations. So it’s no wonder that when the Monster Among Men finally got his chance, he made good on it. It didn’t come without tribulation, of course, as both Zayn and Cesaro tried their best to keep The Artist in possession of WWE’s workhorse title. But Strowman would not be denied, plowing through both intruders before planting Nakamura with a Powerslam to claim his first singles title in WWE.

Analysis: Strowman has been long overdue for a singles championship, or even a legitimate title run in general. All congratulations to the big man.

Naomi confronted Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley

Results: Like it or not, Bayley is still the Smackdown Women’s Champion. And she seems quite sure that Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair will challenge her at Wrestlemania. There was one woman, however, who had something to say about that. Naomi, who returned at the Rumble herself, emerged from the back and all but outright challenged Bayley to a Smackdown Women’s Championship match. The champ didn’t take to kindly to that, dropping The GLOW with a right hand, but Naomi responded with a springboard enzuiguri to sending Bayley scrambling.

Analysis: Naomi received a huge ovation at the Royal Rumble, and deservedly so. The Smackdown women’s division has been in desperate need of a refresh and, in my eyes, Naomi came back at just the right time to do that.

Roman Reigns and The Usos def. King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode (Loser Eats Dog Food)

Results: Despite defeating King Corbin in a Falls Count Anywhere Match this Sunday, it would seem that Roman Reigns isn’t quite shot of his foe just yet. At the beginning of the show, Reigns addressed the matter, and upped the ante for their already scheduled Six-Man Tag Team Match, a rematch of last week’s main event. Reigns declared that between himself and Corbin, whosever team lost, that man would have to eat dog food. And so the stage was set for the ultimate humiliation for the losing captain. Corbin worked well together with Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, but family ties prevailed as Reigns managed to roll up Corbin to pick up the win. Refusing to accept his fate, the 2019 King of the Ring attempted to flee, but found himself handcuffed to the ringpost, much like he did to The Big Dog so many weeks ago, and completely covered with dog food.

Analysis: I don’t see what the point of this match was, but if it finally ends this two-month long angle, I’m happy.
